Pubs in the Peak District

Peak District Pubs and Gastro Pubs

The range of pubs in the Peak District is astonishing. There are pubs full of character to modern soul-less family pubs. Pubs for drinkers with little in the way of food available and some that don’t really make you feel welcome unless you are intending to eat. It doesn’t matter whether you like real ale, lager, fizzy cold keg beer or cocktails, pub grub or fine dining, you should be able to find a pub to suit your taste.

Please note that we try hard to keep the list up to date but given the rate of pub closures, some of these establishments may now be closed. Having lived on the southern fringes of the Peak District since 1980, we have been to quite a few … some still going, others sadly now closed.

There is currently just one review of Peak District pubs on this site. Please contact us for details of how you can add a free review or even advertise your establishment with photo, available beers and menu. Put your pub or bar into the limelight!

The Druid Inn, Main Street, Birchover, Matlock, DE4 2BL – if you are looking for cheap bog-standard pub grub you need to look elsewhere, the Druid is a Quality Gastro-pub, no two ways about it. We have always enjoyed the food here.

But just for a pint after a bouldering session at Cratcliffe or routes at Rowtor Rocks we tend to go to the Red Lion just up the road toward Stanton Moor. They have a walkers area where you don’t have to take your boots off! Decent food and always a well kept selection of Real Ale …
